Great Sights Milford Sound

Prize: Milford Sound Day Tour from Queenstown

Take an unforgettable journey into the heart of Milford Sound, New Zealand’s most famous tourist destination. You’ll experience the world-famous fiord in all its natural glory, surrounded by dense rainforest, glacier-carved valleys and beautifulwaterfalls.

Travel in comfort from Queenstown to Lake Te Anau, the largest lake in the South Island, before venturing into Fiordland National Park. Take advantage of the photo opportunities on offer along the scenic Milford Road, like the Eglington Valley and the stunning Mirror Lakes.

Your glass-roof coach will provide amazing views as you cross the Main Divide of the Southern Alps, with stunning mountain peaks all around. Stop at Monkey Creek and sample some of the purest water in the world (but watch out for cheeky kea!). Then travel under the mountains through the Homer Tunnel, a 1.2km passageway drilled into solid rock.

At Milford Sound, set off on a two-hour cruise on the fiord’s most luxurious cruise ship and explore the place Rudyard Kipling called the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. Glide past glacier-scarred rock walls and waterfalls that tumble into the sea. See the lush native forest clinging to the sheer cliffs above, and watch out for seals, penguins and dolphins in the water.

Your cruise will take place on the newest and most luxurious cruise ship in Milford Sound, with entertaining commentary throughout. A tasty picnic lunch will be served during your cruise.

We look forward to welcoming winners of the Virtual Race NZ to this special part of New Zealand.
