The Great Virtual Race of New Zealand is the brainchild of Glenn Marvin.
Glenn is an avid trail runner who has competed in races all over the world. Races that include New Zealand’s Iconic Tarawera Ultra and Kepler Challenges, extreme races such as the Everest marathon and multi-stage races such as the Alps 2 Ocean.
Glenn is even known to break out (and run in) his tuxedo from time-to-time, raising smiles from those that are also suffering in these often brutal runs.
The thing that keeps bringing Glenn back to these races is the human connection and camaraderie that they bring.
In the current world environment with many people still in isolation, virtual races are becoming more popular. Glenn wanted to take the concept to a whole new level.
In his day job, Glenn runs Konnector - a marketing coaching company - and works with a lot of tourism operators in New Zealand. Recognising the impact of global travel restrictions on New Zealand tourism businesses, Glenn decided to create a virtual race that would showcase these businesses while creating a community of passionate people willing and able to support each other.
